Happy Birthday to Our Baby

Today is very bitter sweet for Mommy. It's my baby's 2nd birthday. I couldn't be prouder of our big girl. Kyleigh is such a sweet, bright, funny little girl. She keeps us in stitches constantly and we are always looking at each other saying, "Where did she get that?"

Our precious angel is now going potty on the big potty (not always, but most of the time) and decided she was ready to do this on her own, and as of two nights ago, she's also sleeping a big girl bed. Wow, how quickly they grow up. This morning, Kevin and I went in to get her out of bed together and she awoke with a huge smile on her face to her Mommy and Daddy singing "Happy Birthday Dear Kyleigh." Kevin made her eggs, which was the only thing she asked for last night when we told her we were going to make her a special birthday breakfast, and I read her birthday book to her, which is now a tradition in our home. We will have hot dogs for dinner (yes, I'm serious, the kid loves hot dogs), open presents, and have left over Mickey Mouse cake tonight. She will also have cupcakes at school today. Tomorrow is the Dora party at Pizza Hut with a Dora cake and all of our friends. What a busy birthday this has been for Kyleigh. I think she is going to assume all birthdays last for over a week and are followed closely by Christmas.

I have been reminiscing a lot this morning on that amazing day 2 years ago. I was so miserable at that point in my pregnancy (or should I say for my entire pregnancy) and so ready to meet our baby, but the day was exciting and labor was not too terrible for me. I will never forget how that beautiful face greeted the world and singing Happy Birthday to our lamb on the day she was born. She is a true gift from God and we have never been more blessed. Happy Birthday Sweetheart. We love you!

KJ - 19 Month Update From Danielle

Hi Everyone,

I meant to get this email out last month when Kyleigh was 18 months, but that's how Summer goes I guess....good intentions with never enough time to get them all done.

Kyleigh is growing like a weed and cracking us up on a daily basis. She now says short sentences starting with her first one a couple of weeks ago: "Bob eat too." We were sitting down to dinner and Kevin was feeding the cats. Kyleigh was telling us that Bob, the cat, was getting ready to eat dinner too. Last night she sneezed and said, "Bess You Ky Ky." Kevin and I laughed so hard. It was the cutest thing ever! She gave herself the nickname Ky Ky about a month or so ago and it's now how she always refers to herself.

The terrible twos have definitely set in though too. I have never met a more independent child! She wants to do absolutely everything herself with full gusto and NO fear. We have to watch every move she makes, because she knows no stranger and wants to try everything she sees.

Everything right now is "No, No", "Oh No," or "Mine." She also loves to say "Mess" whenever she, or anyone, makes a mess. Cracks us up. She regularly keeps Kevin and I in stitches. She is very opinionated these days and knows exactly what she does and does not want and is not shy about telling us. In fact, she's not shy about anything. She loves the water, helping Daddy outside, to slide (on land and on water slides all by herself), reading books, playing with her babies, her milk (oh, how the child loves her milk), to play with all of the neighborhood kids, playing in the dirt, running in the sprinklers, riding on her rocking horse, all animals, dancing the Hokey Pokey with Elmo, watching Dora and Blues Clues (Boos Coos), and just being an all around ham! We really work hard at enjoying every minute of our time with her, but it is amazing how fast the time goes!!!

At Kyleigh's 18 month doctor's appt, she weighed 25lbs 12oz (75th%) and measured 33" tall (88th%). I'm so ecstatic about her height. Up until now, she's always been around 50th% on height and 80th% on weight. I hope the growth spurt keeps up.

We pray that everyone is doing well and having a wonderful summer. Send us an update too when you get a chance.

Love,
Kevin, Danielle, & Ky Ky

Update from Danielle- June 25th

Kevin started on the patio. It's going to be a lot of work, but I have total faith that he will be able to complete this project and it will be beautiful! He's been wanting to do it for so long. He has been pulling up the sod so far and has both sides done -just has the front left before doing some digging. His goal is to finish it before he starts back to class in late July. Kyleigh had her 18 mo. doctor's appt yesterday. She only had to get one shot and she was a pro - only cried for about 20-30 seconds. She is 33 inches tall (88 percentile on height - yay) and 25 lbs 12 oz (75 percentile on weight). She is doing wonderfully, even with all of the no, nos ;-). Too much milk though - we have to cut her back. She's not going to like that ;-).
