On Monday March 8th Kevin will undergo open heart surgery to replace the PFO device with a regular patch and remove the remainder of the clot in his heart.
He should be in the hospital for 4 days and then home to begin the recovery process. It is expected to be a 2 hr. surgery – very “simple” open heart procedure says the surgeon, Restricted driving for 1 month, weight bearing for 2 months.
